Repaints/LEs/etc

It is obivious at this point with the LE 36 Ford w/trailer (I have the Club version), LE Stanley, LE 29 RR Phantom I, etc that the mints cares more about the money than the collector. Can anyone talk to those "under new management folks" and turn them around. I only have so much money and room to display, therefore, I am looking for different cars and not 7 versions of a 57 Vette.
If they want to reissue a car (w/current technology) why don't they do the 1911 Mercedes Wood Body Skiff. Just a thought.
I do realize that it can't be a LE because its a one of a kind automobile and it would not look good in two tone.

Well I like to see re-paints. I just wish if they are going to repaint a car and offer it as a LE that they would add some extra detail not seen on the original. JMHO.

TFM New toolings just announced 6/5

Stanley Steamer (100%)(unless this is 16-scal I'm not sure)

Dodge Challenger (100%)

2006 Corvette Z06 (it appears to be 90% new-tooling despite the established C6 tooling...maybe 70%)

Plymouth GTX (possibly small amount of re-tool partially shared with Roadrunner)

Mustang GT CV (I suppose it only cost TFM a few thousand dollars to re-tool to a CV but it is still an investment.

That's (4-5) in one announcement...I think that might be a record for any diecast company this decade. That could possibly cost a half a million dollars or more before material costs. I'm fairly impressed myself.

I only like a repaint when the color is one I more prefer than the original.

Bob, I agree. I'd definitely like to see a repaint of the DM 1969 Dodge Super Bee Six-Pack and the new DM 1957 Tbird. I don't like orange or pink! Pink I dont want. I tried to accept the new DM 1957 T-Bird, but sold it. The only orange car I accepted in my collection is the DM 1969 GTO Judge as it looks good. But I actually don't want many orange cars in my collection Thats exactly why I sold my DM General Lee, but later missed it since its a nice car and it was well done by DM. Repaints gives the chance to those of us that don't like certain colors, lol. I think its cool we get new colors as the new repaint of the FM 1929 Rolls. I think its a great color combo.

Of course FM cares about $$! Why other reason is there to sell model cars?

C'mon guys! They're in business to make money. Same for any business, right?

Randy -- you really missed your calling! You should be a campaign manager or a P.R. person for Hollywood stars, or something. You really do always see the glass half full, sir -- I'll say that for sure!

Realistically, though, I will be very surprised if that Stanley Steamer turns out to be 1:24 scale. Furthermore, I'm willing to bet that most of these new releases are straight re-paints, or maybe slight-modifications of currently existing tools.

That being said, I myself am really lusting over that beautiful new grey Mustang convertible -- come to Poppa!

The best scenario would be repaints PLUS new images. ๐Ÿ™‚

Repaints

Now that we have arrived at the fact that the Stanley is a repaint I wonder what FM is going to charge. Is it going to be the kind of mark-up we seen on the Cord. Was it $120 + $50 = $170. No repaint is worth that kind of mark-up especially when there are no/few new features. When I finally purchased my LE Cord it was on sale $102.00. Do the 1/16s have more parts/detail or are they just bigger.
Again I think the Mints are after the money and not giving a whole lot of consideration to collectors. Has anyone looked at the breakdown of new images vs reissues (regardless of color or LE status)

Did everyone miss my plug for a reissue/LE of the 1911 MB Wood Body Skiff. I would love to add this to my collection for $175.00 ($200 with updated technology)from the FM, can't afford the $700 plus number at auction.

You are right...I have trouble being cynical about much and that has to do with TFM, GMP, DM, baseball, women, politics, war, gas prices, etc. I don't really care to expend the energy to be critical when it comes to toy cars. There are standards in this precision industry and often those standards are not met...I admire it more when they are indeed met than some. I suppose.
