I agree, George. Wish more people would post their own reviews. Before I buy a car on the secondar y market I always look at reviews to get the thoughts of others. That has helped me pick up some great models I might have otherwise passed on and also to decide not to buy some that likely would have been a disappointment.

George, you're absolutely correct. I'm guilty of not providing my thoughts. Call it lazy.

I would not mind posting reviews of the models I have purchased over the past several years but I am not sure how to do that. I have used those reviews many times before I decided whether to purchase a model or not, as one other respondant said. But many of you seem way more experienced and seasoned in the 1:24 diecast arena than myself, so I don't know if I feel qualified.

Douglas...it is easy to post a review of any car in your collection. Here is what you do:

1) Go to the "Car List & Reviews" section on the above black scroll bar.

2) When the list of diecast makers comes up, click on the manufacturer (i.e. Danbury Mint).

2) When Danbury Mint comes up on your screen, a selection of sizes will come up (i.e. 1.24). You "click" on that size.

3) All of the cars produced by Danbury Mint will come up listed alphabetically. Scroll or to the bottom of that page to the numbers below to get to the car(s) in the alphabet (i.e. Buick or Ford, etc.) you are wanting to see and read about.

4) When you get to the car (i.e. 1953 Buick Skylark convertible), "click" on that particular car and a review by the D4C will pop up with photos of the car.

5) In the upper right hand corner of the review and photo by the D4C, will appear a box with some stars in it, and the words, "Read Reviews". Click on that box and the reviews of fellow collectors will come up on your screen.

6) You can also go to the very bottom of the D4C review and there are blue words that invite you to share or read reviews.

7) When you are on the reviews page, there is a box to click on to write your own review.

GO TO IT MY FRIEND! You are no less qualified than any of posters here on the board.

I was reviewing models till some of mine "disappeared"

I'm not sure WHY but they did. For a fact I reviewed the FM Country Squire wagon and the review disappeared. It was disappointing because I put a lot of thought into what I wrote. I then rewrote a review and once again its GONE! I dont know why? Several others disappeared too, cant recall which they were so I gave up after this sadly 🙁 I DID mention in my review SUVs and refered to them as Bemamoths and "Obnoxious" but if thats a reason for removing a post then there's too much sensorship here! That is MY OPINION I didnt tell anyone NOT to buy or drive an SUV and I didnt use profanity so again not sure why the review disappeared and not once but twice!

Who is responsible for reviewing the "reviews" posted? I am not sure who is responsible for what.

I think your question should be ask of the person responsible for 'reviewing' the "reviews" to find out why two of your reviews were removed. I certainly don't want to put thought and effort into writing a review and post it only to have it removed.

Keep in mind this was a long time ago! When the model came and and Id say maybe a year or so later when I went to read my review it was gone! I do know it WAS there at one time though

Marlowe I found your review on the 1:12 Chevy and ...

Didn't know that you have problems with yours and a hard time to get a "keeper" Perhaps you've mellowed out or the model "grew" on you (no pun intended), but I don't recall anything but positive comments when I've seen you post pics of your model here on several occasions. Am I correct that you've learned to love the model for its' OVERALL effect and craftsmanship and have accepted its flaws? Just curious!

I've never had a review disappear or removed. I only know that I think that whenever a review is offered, it should be respectful and as professionally done as possible. If someone one is going to review a car to slam a car or bare personal grievances they have, they shouldn't review the car.

Sadly, I've seen some such reviews over the years.

It's okay to discuss the shortcomings of a particular diecast, but do so objectively.

and some of them are going back to 2000 and before. It has nothing to do with guidelines from the administrators and it's based on our own appreciation of what the model should be.

What is ALL the time a five stars model for George is not the same for other collectors who may have different criterias and standards in a really objective evaluation.

Yes Phil, as usual, you're right on the money on all counts.

I do feel I've mellowed and members have taught me to be more accepting of these model cars. I've learned that none of them are perfect and some flaws we just have to live with as a fact of life. Kinda like me! 🙂

Richard, if you really read ALL my reviews, you'd know that NOT all of them are 5 stars.

But when they are 5 stars (in my opinion), I will give them that. And when they are not 5 stars (again in my opinion), I respectfully say so.
