The model I bought today was never on my radar, I never had any intention of obtaining it. I don’t generally hunt out Franklin’s, I have only a handful of them, I much prefer Danbury’s. I’ve seen it a few times on eBay, thought it was kind of cool, but never thought it was worth the asking price, especially for an older low tech model. For the buy it now price on this one, it looks better and better!
The following are actual auction photos…
Looks pretty nice to me.
Kevins, I bought this model new from a Franklin Mint gallery store in the late nineties. Normally i would have on passed this one, but the color was so perfect and the poverty caps... well, I had to have it. It's one of my favorite 50's Chevy. I agree, for the price, how could you NOT buy it?!
@pete-rovero I’ve always been a fan of the ‘49-‘54 Chevy’s Pete, I guess there were too many models on my ‘must have’ list, and I never got around to this one. Besides, I bought the Franklin ‘54 a while back for about the same reason, it just showed up at a very, very low price. It turned out to be a real gem in my collection, I like it very much even though it’s old tech. The basic shape of the Chevy’s of that period are classic ‘All American’ family sedan styling that really hits my nostalgia button. I’m pretty sure I’m going to like this one!
Kevins, you are so right. How could you pass on it. I bought mine from a Franklin Mint retail store that was in the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota back in the 1990s. Even at the NEW model price, it would have been near impossible for me to pass on it. And I also have the two Hardtop releases of this model too. Both were "must haves".

@perrone1 Hey Tony, I got married when I was barely seventeen, my ‘man card’ was revoked fifty six years ago! By the way, the seller had a few more models in that price range that were out of my collecting interests, thanks for everyone’s comments.
Silly; getting married only changes your 'Man' Card slightly. You have to trade it in for a 'Married Man Card'; but then it becomes renewable.@perrone1 Hey Tony, I got married when I was barely seventeen, my ‘man card’ was revoked fifty six years ago!
