In the latter stages of preproduction, a handbuilt example will come from the factory for approval and a photoshoot for advertising purposes. There's a real science on how to affix the models to the plinth so they survive the voyage and unfortunately it seems to be 'trial and error'. Everytime I receive a model from China, the first thing I do is shake the box listening for the inevitable parts rattling around. Many times I can repair them in order photograph them, but a few times they are beyond repair. Remember the Cord L-29 pics I posted a few days ago? Well, that was the second model sent from China after reconfiguring the retaining screw placements. Here's what I got the first time. If you'd like to see more "behind the scenes" destroyed models, believe me, I have more! LOL
Sad indeed. When I received this model everything was okay except the feather radiator cap ornament. I finally found it in the box and with my clumsy fingers got it reinstalled.
@larry-kemling On the plus side, I have enough of these for a great "junkyard diorama". LOL
Yeah Rich; I want to see more!!
That would make a terrific 'car crash diorama' !
horror show!!
That's awful, makes you wanna cry.
