Some thoughts from President Abraham Lincoln
I'm not one to get very sentimental over holidays (any holidays) but these words from Lincoln really touched me. And please note: I'm not preaching any particular G_d or religion here.
These words were written while the Civil War was raging.
?We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.
"Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.
"It has seemed to me fit and proper that God should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people.?
Great write up - Thanks for sharing !!!
Lincoln was undoubtedly one of the best orators of all times.
Beautiful words from a great man. Thanks for posting.
What profound succinct words
Fantastic! We, as a nation, have gone dangerously off track in that regard.
He was my favorite President!
Awesome.
Thanks Ron
