1954 Austin Healey 100-4 Roadster (great first car)

I bought the Healey (4 Banger) used in 1960, it was a typically unreliable British machine, but when it ran, it was a totally fun car to drive!

I told my mom I was buying a foreign import economy car and when my dad and I brought it home and she saw it...she yelled and said that's no economy car, that's a racecar!!!

My poor father sure caught heck for letting me buy it!

A 1979 Chevy swb window van with the 400-4bbl...

...after salesman lost original order, vehicle arrived four months later in Feb. '79--just in time for the second gas crisis. 10-12 mpg and a faulty gas gauge resulted in it only lasting 6 months before my second new car, a '79 Volare Duster T-top with the 318 (one of my favorites).

A Dodge Colt station wagon (Mitsubishi)

It was silver with red interior and manual transmission. I don't remember the year - late 1970's somewhere. Nice car. Traded it for a 1980 Fiat 2000 spyder in the same color scheme. That was a fabulous car.

1972 Mercury Capri 2000 with a 4-speed. Got it when I graduated high school.

Two years later I bought my second new car. I upgraded to a 1974 Capri 2800 V-6 with a 4-speed and a sun roof.

Hummm...brand new....I have owned over 60 cars....ashamed to say my first brand new 1:1 was a 1972 Chevy Vega Hatchback in a light blue...and that pathetic 4 banger married to an automatic. I was a lowly paid DJ in El Dorado, Arkansas in those days and the car was $2000 included PS, PB, AC, AM-FM radio, raised white letter Firestones....had a pin hole leak in the valve cover, and when you started it a thin stream of oil would be squirting....dealer fixed it. Ironically, that was the only problem I ever had with it...kept it one year..next new car was a 1973 Gremlin X....I was really on role with my new car choices!!
