Speed Racer
This was John McBride's program. He did many sketches of the functional items.
The model pictures that follow are of the painted prototype. This was worth about $60K.
They did a test mailing and thought it did not do that well, so the program was killed.

WOW .... THAT would be sitting in my collection if it were released
How is that dollar figure calculated?
This was a 1:12th FM prototype. The prototype was approx $45K to produce.
It was handmade in HK. It was sent to a vendor to be detail painted. That included artwork that was done in house in the studio. Add $15K for all of this.
The artwork was sized to the prototype, sent out and dry transfers made. Just to give you an idea, I had a sheet made for a 1:24th logo. It cost me $350. That was 1999 standards.
that you know hey George......all of this "insider information" you`ve been posting is wayyyyyyyyy too cool....I pass some of it on to my friends but they still "blank look" me in response........but for the aficionados, this stuff is GOLD....thank you very much, and please continue to share whatever you can.....collectors rarely get a chance to look behind the curtain and we are enthralled...John
+1 !!!
$60K? OK, I'll TAKE IT!
FM sent out flyers. It was their marketing test.
I gave away my box of flyers!
I'd love a close up of the engine bay to see what you guys dreamed up.
My granddaughter gave me this one about ten years ago. (pic)
