The Statistics are as follows:
FM 21 Cars total 3 non Corvette Mint Models of ten 11 Corvettes 2 were regular editions and 1 was a D4C car, 4 were Mint Models, 4 were independent retailers (those are people not in the Mint making special models for their businesses to sell. so in reality FM made 2 Corvettes of 12 or 16.6%
DM made 12 cars 9 non Corvette and 3 Corvette 25% so you had other opportunities to acquire something besides a Vette which by the way is paying some of the development costs for those other cars. I guess no matter how often you are told you will fail to understand.
Gonna call the mint in the morning and get a 58 Mustang!
Before the're all gone! 😉
I know it's early AM, but a 58? Mustang???......OOPs...
But I do understand
No one is arguing any of the points you make. But, with the numbers of Vettes already out there, enough is enough. Both the Mints have already gotten plenty of mileage out of the Corvettes. I am simply saying that it is time to move on and start expanding the offerings and especially to us "baby boomers" who grew up with the awesome cars of the 50's and 60's. After all, we comprise 40% of the population and I'm sure that the percentage of members and collectors out there in the die cast world is even greater. I also know that in order to remain viable, business must adapt to the customer base and their desires. And believe me, I do understand exactly what is going on. One of my many degrees is in accounting with a concentration in cost accounting.
Facts are good, David - your last sentence wasn't.
David Hosea, that is. Sorry.
I'll be posting the review on the 1958 Mustang just as soon as...
...I post one on the DM '58 Panama Yeller Vette. Perhaps David meant 1968 guys.
And poor Mr. Kroupa; geeze, don't shoot the messenger, I want info on that model too. Fact is, Corvettes sell. It is probably the largest single constituency of diecast collectors out there and it would be foolish of the Mints not to target those buyers. Just like a football team who has success in an off-tackle run that consistently produces 8 yards per play, until they stop you, keep working it. We sometime lose sight of other collector groups but the Mustang forums and Corvette forums all dote on new releases, almost to the point of overlooking everything and anything other than their main single interest marque. As long as the makers make money with them and as long as we're dedicated to providing ALL diecast info, we shouldn't be pointing our loaded muzzles at messengers bringing glad tidings. Speaking of which, everyone into the Lounge - I hear there's spiked Holiday punch there and folks dressed up like Eskimos. HO, HO, HO!

Now that's just scary!!
When you call they would probably respond to Mustang being changed to Thunderbird.
In the haste to get all of the info into a format which could be simple and understood I spelled 58 Ford Mustang instead of 58 Ford Thunderbird. My apology for the error.
Jerry, See my correction as it was late. Mus--- is spelled correctly as THUNDERBIRD sorry for the
Error of Mustang.
You should see me before the mug of coffee......
Retreads vs New Models
The Franklin Mint:
6 new (actually only 4 new as two were mint models variations, Black Corvette Z06 & Yellow/Black Challenger w/ white interior 150 pieces)
The Danbury Mint:
5 new, 2 semi New (Body Style/Year), 5 absolute retreads
Hope this Helps!
