By the 1930s, aviation aerodynamics began to be incorporated into the coachbuilder's designs for both performance and esthetics. Although the philosophy as wind tunnel results were identical, each countries' designs were such that you could identify them by their country of origin. Italian coachbuilders, like, in this case, Touring of Italy, produced uniquely Italianate styling cues that separated them from their French, German and American counterparts. I was happy to see Franklin Mint release this 1938 Alfa-Romeo 8C 2900B Superleggera (light weight) Lungo Spyder in Rosso Italico (Italian Racing Red). The '8C' refers to its 2.9 liter supercharged straight 8.
