Well, the 4-wheeled Zeppelin anyway. This is TFM's model of the 1934 Spohn Maybach DS8 Zeppelin Cabriolet show car which was one of a handful of aerodynamic cars commissioned by Karl Maybach made to tie the car company to the aeronautical industry of which it was a subsidiary. It was founded in 1909 as a subsidiary of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin by Wilhelm Maybach. The car had a powerful 8 liter V12 that was the basis for the engines that drive all the Panzer and Tiger 1 tanks when automotive production ended for good in 1940.
This model is a repaint of the old tech black and silver model which was the 1934 Berlin show car. For its age, the model is well done. It suffers a bit from the old 2-D dash applique and the engine compartment is a bit sparse in detail.
I always thought this was a handsome automobile. FM did a great job of capturing the overall proportions IMO.
@bob-jackman Yessir... for its age it is a fine model. I love those Teutonic Tanks. LOL
