Tell me a story about one of your models (Pic)
This is a model of a 1963 Corvette Stingray, made in fiberglass, made The Franklin Mint.

Can you be more specific? What do you mean by " story " ??
WHY we chose that particular model? IF a model was a gift or sentimental purchase??? Etc. I think for most of us the majority of our collections simply were purchased for us by US to satisfy our diecast "fix"
Joop, I ll tell you a story about YOUR car. It isn't a 1963 Corvette - it's a 1965.
Oh my god, Andy, you are so right....
And that's the rest of the story.....lol
Sure, here goes one. In today's Daily Dose 5/17/17 I featured a '53 Holden.
Which is a model I am incredibly fond of. I have five of the '53's and two of the '52's. Each one has a special place in my collection.
And if it wasn't for D4C, I may have never have been aware of them. I found this site in late 1998, if memory serves, and sometime then or early 1999. I saw a post that included this model. For me, at that time, I was in awe. I had to have one of these little gems.
So began the first of many experiences. At that time, my collection of precision models was small. Maybe 30 models that I had been collecting since 1991. They were mostly FM & DM models, with a few lesser ones thrown in.
With the help of D4C and a wonderful member, I discovered eBay, PayPal and Top Gear-Trax. All of this was new to me, a great big world was about to bust open, and I took full advantage of all these experiences, and continue to do so today.
My collection has certainly benefitted from the relationship with D4C, I have discovered so many wonderful models and information. And as well, all the great guys on this site, with their knowledge and friendship, it has been a great place to visit for nearly twenty years.
All of this comes from this little model, and it reminds me of it each time I spend a moment with it.
The model is #2 in my Top 50 favorite models.
