When I was in Scottsdale a couple of months ago, I stopped at the local Walmart to see what was new on the toy isle. I found a Motor Max 1:24 scale 1978 Ford Bronco which looked pretty nice, so I had to buy it. It was only $10! It has a decent amount of detail, opening doors only. I did manage to pop off the rear top. It's a Bronco Custom, which was Ford's entry level Brono, so the interior is pretty basic. All-in- all a nice representation by Motor Max.
Last week it rained for a couple of days so I decided to do a little detailing on the Bronco. It didn't take long to take it apart; I think it has a total parts count of 42 including the chassis screws.
Ford had three two-tone paint choices in 1978, I chose the Deluxe version and decided on white to match the top.
I also did some detailing with paint and BMF, relocated the rear bumper, corrected the taillights and side trim and painted the chrome wheels white as these wheels were only offered in white by Ford. I did a minimal amount of detailing on the dash and door panels and relocated the steering wheel. I went to a local window tint company and got a scrap piece of tint and added privacy glass to the top. I made a FORD decal for the tailgate and the "Better Ideas" license plates for the bumpers. I hope you enjoy the transformation. Thx!
Nicely done; this was a great effort that really paid off! Very cool! 😎 😎
Pete, your work made a 100% improvement. What a great score and transformation. 😎👍
Thanks for the positive comments, guys! It was nice working on a model for a change rather than the house the last couple of months.
great effort Pete, thanks for sharing it
WOW, what a difference Pete! The basic model looked great as it was, for what it was. But now it shines! Great work sir!!
Pete what a great transformation. I purchased this Bronco from Walmart as well, I have the Red with white top version.
Pete,
Your customizations never fail to amaze us. Thank you for showing them ! 👍
A very cool model. I've always liked these.
In the early 80s I came very close to buying one of these in the same colors. At the time, I couldn't see myself driving a truck all the time. Funny, from the mid-90s, I've owned at least one since.
