Congratulations Ed, they look great! I have my Cyclones on a shelf with the 1969 Charger 500 and Dodge Daytona.
They look great don't they? Sadly my pair of these has always been packed away and will be until I either sell them or move next year and create a bigger, better display area.
we of course lament the loss of the mints but Eds great pics are also a reminder of what a loss to 1/24 GMP also was. Their Mustangs, Pontiac GTOs, and 80s Buicks, along with the Cyclones were/are brilliant models.
I also have both, plus the red/white Cale Yarborough special. The blue one has evaded me. This is the only GMP car in 1/24 that I do not have from them. The GMP folks were great people. Whenever I was on one of my many business trips to GA, I would swing by and stop in. They were so gracious always letting walking through the design area and showing me what they were working on. Boy do I miss those days.
I have them both as well as a lot of other GMP 1/24s. Funny, none of their 1/24s were received well when they were issued. There seemed to be a built in bias in favor of the Mints. After they dropped the line, the products were lauded and the demise lamented. Our own George Bojaciuk was an intergal part of the development. It was similar to what happened to Mattel when they ventured into 1/24.
Well said Rich. I would put my GMP models up to the best I have in my collection. GMP 1/18 scale models are just as good and I'm glad that I have many of those as well.
