This 1959 Mercedes-Benz W189 300D Cabriolet was a virtually hand built luxury touring car that was compared to the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud in the same price range. Along with the Rolls, it was a favorite of European statesmen like Chancellor Konrad Adenauer (pictured below). It came in various forms including landaulet and parade configurations.

This model, by CMC, is another European classic from their late and lamented 1/24 lineup. I love the finish on this.... it's like 'sea ice' green.

Have it, love it. I was very disappointed  when CMC dropped production of 1/24 scale models but I did switch to their 1/18 models as an alternative. Your pictures do justice to this piece of miniature art.

I was finally able to pickup the sea ice green version a few months back on the local ebay. The white looks great too, very, very hard to find. Thanks for the pics gentlemen.

I do love this one, I have the 1st version in the Crystal Green. I had considered the white version but waited too long. Very sorry I missed it.

My only modification to this CMC model was adding the more correct wide whitewalls for that era of Mercedes (1951-1957)

CMC most likely copied a museum example that had acquired the narrow whitewalls later in its life.

This is a spectacular model.  I wish I had also bought the white one.  They are super expensive now.

That whitewall correction sure looks good.

Great pics, all.
