This is perhaps the flagship for both Delahaye and coachbuilders Figoni and Falaschi. This 1938 Delahaye 165 Cabriolet is one of the very few non race cars to be equipped with their 4.5 liter V12 that properly set up could produce 245 hp. Two were built, but the second car which was shown at the '38 Paris Auto Show and then the '39 New York World's Fair had no engine or drive train. The first car survived WWll but was confiscated by US Customs and languished there for 6 years before it was released to a California dealer who replaced the original engine and transmission with a Cadillac V8 and an automatic. In the 80s, an original V12 was sourced from Germany and the car was ultimately restored to original debuting at the 1992 Pebble Beach Classic and now resides in the Mullin Museum. Note: the flush door handles beat Dave Kindig's patented design by 85 years.

Model by Automodello.
