The first iteration of the '53 Buick Skylark was old school but with some remarkable features for the time. Yes, the engine compartment wasn't plumbed or wired and it still employed dog leg hinges but the were very unobtrusive. Some of the more delightful features and portents of things to come were real 3-D badging, realistic (Kelsey-Hayes?) wire wheels and a surprisingly nicely done interior and dash. All in all,it was a model worth re-issuing.

I have always loved this model. One of the earliest in my collection and it still stands out every time I see it.

Excellent photos, they show the model at its finest.
