The 1954 Eldorado Sports Convertible was the production successor to the limited custom Eldorado of 1953. In house it was model #54-62, Style 62675X and it sold for $5738. The Eldorado was meant to be a convertible only model with 2150 units built. However there was one hardtop Eldorado that was built for the president of Reynolds Aluminum which no one seems to know if it still exists today. Known for its gilded badges and scripts and its huge aluminum trim pieces on the quarter panels, it followed the rest of Cadillac's squared off design but with its long wheelbase of just over 223" it looked much lower and sportier than the series 62. Following the Eldorado theme, the Danbury Mint model is finished in Apollo Gold. I just love the flip up driver's side tail lamp that reveals the gas filler cap.

I love car history intrigue like this. A prized model bought direct from DM after I discovered their wonderful customer service and reasonable global shipping costs.The Eldorado was meant to be a convertible only model with 2150 units built. It was a must-have for me, my wife is a 1954 model also, love at first sight for both. An absolute masterpiece from Danbury Mint, and an another masterful write up from Rich!
