In 1949, the White Motor Company unveiled this highly innovative "Cab Over Engine" design having the entire car flip forward 45° giving unrestricted access to the engine. Hinged side panels also provided access to the engine for routine maintenance. The one piece windscreen offered great visibility  and the cab's flat floor design allowed for better interior mobility. The standard petrol engine was White's "Mustang" flat head 6 that by 1955 (this model) had a displacement of 477 cid and produced 215 HP @3000 rpm giving the engine lots of low end torque. It was coupled to a 5 speed manual and a 2 speed electric rear axle giving the truck 10 speeds forward. Both a Cummings and GM diesel engine were optional.

Danbury Mint model this delivery configured truck with roll up side panels that exposed the entire cargo bay. Liveried as a Budweiser carrier, the model is definitely up the DM's truck model standards which, in some instances exceeded the content of their car models.

As a kid, I was always fascinated by the huge neon sign over the Budweiser plant in Newark, NJ a few miles from where I lived. It continually morphs between a lone flying eagle and the Budweiser logo. It was really beautiful at night.

A great model and, as a fan of neon art I, too, like that Budweiser sign.  Can you imagine the creative process the designer possessed to enable him/her to design it to function in such a manner?

Great as always Rich. Thanks for the great read and stories. I used to have quit a few neon bar signs. I sold them all before I moved.

I was facinated by the White Cabover as a kid, long before DM made a stunning model of it. Your photos are amazing, you bring out all of the amazing details better than if I’m looking at the model itself. The Bud version is gorgeous, but since I collect Coca Cola, and I don’t double up on different versions of the same vehicle, I went with the Coke livery. You’ve gotta love the syrup tanks, too cool!

Oh, and I also collect a little Disney, which explains the goofy character hitching a ride.

this is the version I have. Always remember how heavy it was first time I removed from the box. As always, thanks Rich

PS just had another look at those pics, the characters look really great as does the Coke signage and props. I have some 1/24 scale Coke decals left over from kits if you want them Kevin. Easy to post to over there.
