This very early Danbury Mint model of the 1934 Packard V12 Le Baron Speedster was certainly crude by later standards. It's one interesting feature was the use of leather for the upholstery and door cards. The red paint suffered from an orange peel finish and the yellowed "white" walls defied all attempts to make them white. I felt OK about the model as it seemed it was a universally unsolved problem. Today, I saw these photos from an eBay seller and it blew me away. Look at the finish and the whitewalls on this baby!!! Was this model disassembled and reworked? Did DM ever reissue this model in the same color? Are the pics Photoshopped? Or... did someone score a model in this quality back some 38 years ago? The first three pics are the sellers, the rest are, unfortunately, mine.

I only have the more current list of FM & Dm cars. I show a reissue in 97 but not original release. The eBay car seems to have 'plasticy' seats where yours (and mine as well) has the leather. But mine is a 97. So...???

I guess one would have to buy the seller’s Packard to see if it is really as good as it looks.
