One TFM's early successes was the white/red 851 Auburn Boat-Tailed Speedster. Perfect color combo in my mind and although old tech with its 2-D dash appliques it was still a standout. In what I think(where's our database?) was its last iteration, TFM released a dark blue LE with saddle interior sporting gold-toned side spear and wheels. Although I doubt this ever existed, it was too beautiful to pass up.
Rich, I agree that it probably wasn't a 1/1 combination but I also bought the model because it looked so good.
Beautiful photos. I have always liked the look of this color. The dark blue w/gold is outstanding.
Yes this is the last of the three issued by FM, white/red in 1990, black/green in 1998 & blue/gold in 2001.

It was FM anniversary model, hence it is in the FM colors, 1:1 in these colors never existed (particularly the wheels). Nice, but it goes to the kitsch category if you ask me. Found one cheap for parts, the white top is nice to have. Great pictures, Rich!

Aaaah... someone else with a good memory. My brain is slowly ossifying.

As Chav said, but it was also the first issue of the Franklin Mint Die-Cast Collector's Club. It came in a very nice felt-lined box with a pin and a special plastic membership card.
