By the second half of the 1960's, European automakers looked to Detroit V8 power to propel their Grand touring cars. Starting in 1965, Iso Autoveicoli combined Giugiaro of Bertone GT design with the Chevy 327 V8 with its incorporation into car done by master engineer Giotto Bizzarrini. The Iso Grifo also used the Ford Boss 351 V8 and Chevy the L72 427 and in the 2nd generation (1970-'74), the Chevy 454. The 2nd gen had a minor face lift with disappearing headlamps. In the mid 60s, I saw a picture of this car which I thought looked pretty cool and was intriqued by the use of the mythical Griffin badge on the nose. I knew nothing about the car itself until Automodello released this model and then it was off to the internet to research this car I'd completely forgotten about. There's something timeless about its clean Italianate design and I'm glad to be able enjoy it all these decades later. Here it is in Orange and the rest to follow:
W hat a fine looking vehicle. Timeless! I take it that the second generation with disappearing headlights has not been modelled so far.
A fabulous car and wonderful photographs. I have a 1/43 Neo model of the second generation which is sadly marred by a massive box-like intake on the otherwise graceful bonnet. It is actually accurate to the real car though.
Wow, I love that green version.😎😛💯
what a stunning looking car, thanks Rich. As mentioned I have the red one on the way
Great looking car. The front reminds me of the Triumph Stag a little bit.
