It's not a typo, but refers to Byron Overseas Motors of Atlanta that raced this 1949 Olds "88" coupe on the early NASCAR circuit. The "Overseas" moniker was that they also sold British Austins. It's one of the famous race cars of that era that were powered by the 135 HP 303 cid OHV V8 fed by a single 2bbl carb, AKA: "Rocket 88". Originally designed for the larger '98', Olds decided to replace their straight 6 of the "76" model. With 0-60 in under 12 sec and a top speed of 97 mph this car was approaching contemporary sports car performance but far more practical. Along side this model is the 1950 "88" with the model commissioned by the "Curved Dash Oldsmobile Club" for its 1997 anniversary. It's a nice representation of the '50 model albeit a curbside. Part of the NAPA racing series, the '49 model has functioning hood and deck as well as a roll bar. I did a bit of foiling on them to finish off the trim and dual exhausts for the yellow '50.
Before my North American time, Rich but very interesting and unusual to me race cars.
