Hermann Graber was just 21 years old when he took over his father's wheel making factory in the Wichtrach canton of Bern Switzerland to make custom car bodies for the likes of Alvis. Packard, Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Bugatti and Duesenberg. This particular Duesenberg began life in New York City in 1930 as a long wheelbase ("J") chauffeur driven town car. When the owner moved to Paris, she found it too big for narrow Parisian streets and traded the car in to a local Duesenberg concessionaire who felt the car would sell better in a sportier body. In 1934, he sent the car to Graber coachworks and this cabriolet was the result. Carrossiere Graber went on post war to concentrate on British automobiles with a special relationship with Alvis. The company folded in 1970 with the death of Hermann Graber.

Wonderful pictures, model and writeup Rich. The model gets a lot of attention when groups tour my collection.
A beautiful model in every way. I love mine.

Very nice. A worthy Graber body despite no British connection. I had not realized that Hermann was that young when he took over. Thanks Rich.
