This first year 1947 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon was built on the long wheel base Roadmaster chassis was designed by Harley Earl to be longer, lower and roomier than the competition, and it sure succeeded. The '47 model is notable as the first year of production aside from subtle badging by its one year only white tenite steering wheel that in later models was black. The prewar 320 cid Fireball straight 8 lost its duel carbureted configuration and with compression dropped to 6.6:1 lost 20 HP to 144. It did now offer 4 wheel hydraulic drum brakes. The body was built by the Hercules Company and designated the Model 79. This top of the line wagon sold for $3249 with 800 units sold.
This beautiful Danbury Mint model is very well done. I was impressed by the functioning 3 piece tail gate with its intricate hardware.
This is a favorite 1:24 model of mine; I love the color contrast with the wood.
That is a stunning model Rich, one I don't have. The only woody wagons I have are the '49 Olds and '53 Buick. But I love both. DM nailed on those as well.💯😊
Thanks for your awesome pics Rich 👍
Great pics Rich. But one that I do not have.
I only added this a few weeks back. Cant move it off my desk to a spot in the display cases. Great photos as always Rich, thanks.
Great pictures and writeup Rich. The details I like most on these models are the working suspension, either side opening hood and the roof mounted radio antenna. DM at it's best.
