where did the gold T bird come from!? And I'll say it again, the pair of DeSotos are brilliant!

@geoff-jowett

Geoff, I believe the gold T-Bird is the 1961 pace car with the graphics removed, front bumper changed out with one without the flag holders, and with wheels and black top from the T-Bird Sports Roadster.  It is a stunning conversion!! I have often thought about doing the same thing.

You're right on all counts Pete. I did the same to the white NY Yankees '61 T-Bird as well. Now have two additional colored T-Birds.

Greg, they are partly the roof and spear on the pink DeSoto was repainted. They came from the black DeSoto. Only the roof was repainted on the white DeSoto.

The white DeSoto was the Pace car at one time. Took the car apart then I removed the windshield from the convertible Pace car.

Then took the roof from another black car and put the roof on the white car. Then had the roof insert painted to match the spear that came from a plum convertible.

All parts came from broken parts cars I purchased to make all of the changes. Think it was all worthwhile. At lease to me it was.

My Dad's '56 DeSoto is the car I learned how to drive with.
