This is a model I missed when it came out because I don't remember ever seeing any information about it until it was too late. As a place filler I do have a 1/25 scale version. Also Tony, I was not aware of a reverse color edition. I'm guessing I must have been asleep through this whole thing.

Issued 1/20/2007 by FM, the Apollo 12 1969 Corvette Coupe was an independent dealer commissioned limited edition of 427. The primary Riverside Gold paint was adorned with black. I forget now, what it was supposed to emulate. An even more limited number was issued in black adorned with gold, at a later date.

you've got a rare one there for sure Hollis. Bring huge bucks when the odd one comes up for auction. I've never seen black adorned with gold. Great info thanks Tony. Gotta agree with Jack too. One flat base color suits the car/model better IMHO.
I saw that Kevin; I wish I recalled who was commissioned to paint the cars (plural). Three of them were done and given to the astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. In my original review I think I mentioned what happened to the cars if I'm not mistaken.
The Apollo Corvettes, leased to astronauts during the Apollo missions, were generally returned to General Motors after a year and then sold to the public. Some ended up in museums or private collections, and a few have been restored. One collector, Danny Reed, owns three of the six custom-painted Corvettes from Apollo 12 and 15. One of these, Al Worden's 1971 Corvette, is currently being restored by his grandson.
@geno Same guy you mentioned Geno. Fascinating story ... I was lucky to find a mint FM Apollo Corvette for about 300 less than an year ago, nice model.
