One of my favorite years for Pontiac and one of my favorite models on my shelf. Danbury Mint simply outdid themselves with this one!

@georgeschire They sure did, no way I was passing on this one.💯🤑

I remember DM was preparing to do a Blue Hardtop '59 Pontiac right about the time that the end came for mint diecasts. Oh what a beauty that would have been next to their White Convertible. But alas, it was not to be.

@georgeschire George, I got to hold the blue hardtop prototype in my hands at the Toledo Toy Show when Rick Hanmore was there. He did have it for sale but It was WAY out of my price range.😟

Oh WOW! Just holding it would have been a trip! Are you at liberty to say what he was asking for it? If not, I understand. Just curious though, if I'd have been tempted. I've mellowed the last few years on what I'm willing to pay if the model is right.

@georgeschire If I remember correctly, it was $800.🤔
Thanks Geno! That's higher than my old limit, but for that model, I'd have paid it. Bet it would be much more now. About 10 years ago, there was a bidding war going on here on the auction for a 1 of 1 '54 Ford. I wanted that baby so bad! I was bidding and was all the way up to something like $3,400 and was still outbid and lost out. That auction brought a lot of discussion here on the Forums.

A definite masterpiece, easily among Danbury’s finest!
