I think that the '53 Buick woody wagon is the best model DM ever did; it is stunning.  I have the green one but like the blue better to be honest.

We are on the same page with this being one of DM's best, and yes, it is stunning.  The Green one was first and I was all over it when it was offered.  A few years later the Blue repaint came along and really love it.  I like that DM did different wheel covers on both cars.  Generally I'm not a station wagon guy, but these models were "must have's" for me.  

I have both of these stunning models and while the green with the wire wheels is initially more appealing. The dark blue looks far more luxurious. I prefer it just slightly.

Unfortunately.  I missed out on both of these.  Maybe one day!

Have both, love both. Changing the wire wheels to the wheel covers gave me reason to buy both.

My reason for buying "repaints" was always that cars back in the day came in so many interesting colors, and if I liked a certain model, I was okay with as many different colors it came in.  And I agree with you Bob, on the changing of the wheel covers, that was an added incentive.  

I have the Green one and also think it’s spectacular!!! I had the Blue LE too but didn't like the wheelcovers (though I’m sure the represent a 1:1 more typically) so I later sold it.  I got a good price too I think $325-400 so it was a win win.  The green one will stay with me till the end!!

Funny, those wheel covers on the Blue version are a homerun for me.  Glad you were able to make a nice profit on your with the sale.  Just curious though, do you still have the $325-$400 you sold it for?  🙁

Of course not!  I did the right thing and ordered two more cars direct from DM that I really wanted so while I didn’t buy it for profit It helped me buy two more cars.  There was a time when I fine tuned my collection and sold cars that didn’t really do it for me.  Among them was the blue BUICK 53, a black FM AC LE Cobra, the FM black LE Cuda coupe and a few others.  I added the AAR PURPLE black Cuda (LOVE IT), added the LE guardsman Blue w / white stripe Cobra ( a favorite of the FM Cobras ) and a few others. I have thought of buying back a blue LE 53 wagon though as they’re just so well done as a model. 

@phil-r Could for you.  Sounds like for sure it was a "win-win" situation for you.  Glad to hear that.  

Thanks George. Like I’ve mentioned in past posts.  I never bought these as investments or to make a profit aside from years ago when LEs sold out fast.  I’d buy 3-4. Wait until they were sold out then sell off my extras.  I did this to offset the cost of these models as I just didn’t have $110-150 a pop to spend.  It helped my obtain a collection far larger then I ever could have afforded. I call it buying smart/creative.  
    I’ve also bought several spectacular 1:18 CMC models the past few years.  Those I bought new direct and at going rate.  Even then I see my Blue Ferrari California Spyder sells for $1100-1700+ any day of the week now that it’s sold out!!  Amazing to me being I paid about $385-400.  No intentions to sell it but if I need $$$ in a pinch it’s great knowing this model is worth 3-4x what I paid!!!
