Today some pictures of my latest arrival. A Franklin Mint Citroën 2CV (=2hp). You can find a lot of them even today on the roads in Europe. I particularly like the fabric top/roof that is a little dusty, but gives the car an authentic look. Citroën wanted to produce a small, affordable car for the French countryside. The car had to be powerful enough for transporting 2 farmers, 50kg potatoes and some bottles of wine... First seen in 1948 in Paris a journalist called the car an "ugly duck" . Since then in the Netherlands it has this nickname. The Germans call it "Ente" which also translates as duck.
Its great, as are the pics, thanks. Still looking for one. I would estimate Hachette et al have made around 10-20? versions of it, in various guises, body types and year design variations. An incredible part of automotive history.
I love watching races with these cars as they look as though they could turn over at anytime.
