Big Antenna Sunday! Today we have a 1949 Mercury Police Cruiser from Danbury Mint. An oldie but a goodie. Here is a review ChatGPT generated, just for kicks and giggles:

"The 1/24 Danbury Mint Mercury Police Cruiser is a fantastic diecast model that captures the iconic look and feel of a vintage police car. The level of detail is impressive, and the craftsmanship is exceptional.

The model is based on the 1950 Mercury police cruiser, which was a popular choice among police departments during the 1950s and 1960s. The diecast model features a stunning black and white police livery, complete with the distinctive police markings and emergency lights. The chrome accents, including the bumpers, grille, and hubcaps, are all expertly crafted, adding to the overall realism of the model.

The interior of the model is also well-crafted, featuring accurate details such as the police radio, sirens, and communication equipment. The dashboard, steering wheel, and gear shift are all accurately replicated, and the seats are finished in a realistic fabric material.

One of the standout features of this model is the opening doors, hood, and trunk. This allows collectors to fully appreciate the intricate details of the engine and interior, as well as the trunk which is filled with police equipment and tools.

The level of craftsmanship extends to the undercarriage, with a detailed chassis and suspension system that replicates the real-life police cruiser. The wheels and tires are also accurately replicated, and the white sidewalls add an extra level of authenticity to the model.

Overall, the 1/24 Danbury Mint Mercury Police Cruiser is an outstanding diecast model that would make an excellent addition to any collection. The level of detail and craftsmanship is exceptional, and the model perfectly captures the spirit of a vintage police cruiser. If you're a fan of classic American police cars or appreciate high-quality diecast models, this is definitely a model worth considering."

......When you have bad actors among your little people, sooner or later you`re gonna need the Police to pay a visit

......My 1/24 Danbury Mint Mercury Police Cruiser came to me a bit worse for the wear......missing both the antenna and the siren and overdue for a good cleaning.

......the replacement whip antenna was fashioned from a length of piano wire with various jewelry findings making up the terminal ends....the front bumper was keyholed to provide a secure anchor point for the antenna, while still allowing it`s easy removal when desired......

........three or four bits of Lego, wire wrapped and painted, form a combination siren/emergency light

Nice work JB, the Merc looks great.  I modified one of these for a coworker years ago.  He wanted the tires changed to black sidewalls and the fender skirts removed to make it look more like a real police car. I wish I took pictures of the finished product.

I've never seen a police car with ww tires. But then again it's not easy to see the tires while sitting in the rear seats....

Pony Saturday! Here we have a 1964 ½ Ford Mustang Convertible from the Franklin Mint. This is a prototype with some fitting issues. FM produced the red version first. This color scheme was later utilized on the Indy 500 Pace Car release. Enjoy!
