@geoff-jowett few years back I picked one of these with missing hood and I think broken windshield for $5. I have the kit too, plan was to replicate the hood from resin, it hasn’t happened yet…
Metal 24 is a bit hard to search for because these are common words in the diecast world. I found out that when you search “metal24” without space and without quotes, the search is much more successful. The search engine will pick the 2 words only if they are consecutive.
the price for this 1936 is actually not unreasonable. I won’t be a buyer cause the reasons above, but this model is extremely hard to find and the only one rendering of this BMW in 1:24 as far as I know. Oh, actually there is another one made from pewter by Franklin Mint and I have it, will post pictures later…
Crossover Friday! Here we have a Lufeng Xiaoyao Crossover. All badges are photo-etched, the hood, rear hatch, and all four doors are functional, and the front wheels are steerable. The actual car has a 1.5L turbo I4. Transmission options include a six-speed manual box or a CVT automatic box. Depending on the trim level, the Xiaoyao can be purchased for $12,000 - $19,000.
Its so good seeing these rare 1/24s. There's a Metal 24 1936 BMW on ebay advertised as "only one on ebay worldwide".
Here is mine that I believe is a factory-built sample, note that the wheels are different from the one that is auctioned. Also the engine bay is colored on mine. The kit contains the same wheels as installed on the one listed for sale on eBay. So, I believe that the one listed on eBay is a built from the kit and not a factory-built.
The rumor is that Franklin Mint built very limited edition of pewter 1936 BMW's which were painted. I found this one from UK and paid around $70, there was one on eBay for some time listed for >$1K. All parts, including the tires and the top are made from metal, hence the piece is very heavy. It is well comparable in size with the Metal 24 one.

Nice model, I love that the 4 doors open. I personally don't like models with only front doors open, either seal them all or make all openable. I am Ok with models that have only the hood open though.
