Vicki's 1956 Continental

Although the quality of the paint on mine is great, both doors are a shade lighter than the rest of the body. Degree of noticeability depends on how the light hits it.

Hi Rick! I just received my 56' Vicki's Continental, the doors on mine are like yours! Anyone else?

The driver door is real noticeable, but both are not matching the body. It looks like they were painted off of the car, and the metallic flow is not the same. Like when a body shop does a repair on a single panel, and it does not match. I'm going to contact Vicki's to see about a return. What are you going to do? :((

Just checked mine...

When I first saw it, I really thought it was my eyes as I am a little ill, but no. It is different lighter type of shade on the doors. Although I want a more perfect car, I wonder if this is the same with all of them as far as the small paint chips and different shades of paint. I am afraid to send it back and get the same or worse.

Vicki's 1956 Continental

It must be a characteristic they all share because of the way they're painted. I've not seen the teal convertible in person, but take a close look at the photos in Tony's review. There's a perceptible difference there too.

FM has had the same problems in the past with many of the 2003/2004 Corvettes. I had received 2 or 3 Vettes that had to be returned because of that same problem.

One is slightly off, and ............

YES I did notice it, but hey you think HAWK eyes wouldn't ?? LOL I have seen several of the LECCv converts and aside from one they ALL had a similar slight color shift on the doors. I don't think this warrants sending them back! Look at 1:1 cars that cost $30,000- $50,000+ Did you ever notice that there is a color shift almost always on bumber covers and some side body colored mouldings as well as painted the painted type door handles?? And I am not talking about Hyundais or Kias! I've noticed this many times on Mercedes, Lincolns, Chryslers, Cadillacs, etc.. I think that this LE MArk II came out striking and am very happy that Brian Did this. His first effort to help launch him with the Turquoise LE Lincoln was somewhat of a flop as many people had QC issues. All of the 61 s I received from him were acceptible and with slight tweaking here and there they become excellent! I was happy with THAT effort and I am thrilled with this one! as nothing IS perfect, i'd say just enjoy the overall image as it's almost jewel-like! THANKS Brian, you get a big round of applause for this effort, and I am sure your efforts with YOUR Chevies will surpass this one. Smile

I guess i just have "old" eyes...

Mine looks fine. Thank you Brian! Of course all of this talk about flaws in this car and the D4C car have made me paranoid! Off to the vault to pull out the D4C Continental, off to the cabinet to grab the salt & pepper Continentals. Time to take a real close look. Report: No chips, all have antennas, all have outside mirrors (btw - best alignment was on the black car)and no obvious mismatched paint.

Same here - mirror, antenna, and paint match are fine - also finish is great, not dull as some were.

Guess I just got lucky with mine, but then I did pay $230 for it, so I don't really feel too guilty about getting a perfect one 😉

Could it be that the seams on both sides of doors give an illusion of color difference? If I look directly at the door to see a color diff. (since it was brought up here) and then turn eyes to either side of door, then a diff is seen (as you can do with many models). When looking at the entire body no diff. is seen. I think it's more a matter of looking at an object between two seams that gives appearance of color variation. This post is referring to D4CV version only.

My opinion about the Vicky's Lincoln

Gentlemen, I think the car is absolutly stunning. I very rarely post much here, but I read a lot and it surprises me how picky some of you guys are about these cars. I haven't gotten one yet from any of the mints that if you put on a pair of magnifiers, you couldn't find something wrong with. As long as all the parts are intact and its eye appealing, its a keeper. I guess my standards for the cars are much lower than others, but I hate to even sell here on this auction for just that reason. I had a 2005 Vette Coupe I sold a while back and the person that bought it wanted to return it because of a miniscule glue spot near the tail light lens. I looked that car over with a pair of magnifiers and couldn't see the glue spot. I just hate to see Brian or anyone for that matter take a bunch of heat about little deficiencies, especially the work he puts in to produce something as nice as that car. I have never seen the white one in person, but certainly this one has to be equally as stunning as that one. I'm sorry guys, I had to make this reply, because I have read so many negative things about these cars from those that post here. Hope I don't get censored for saying this and I certainly don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Bill: I agree on Brian's effort. However, this is a Franklin Mint quality problem again.

The paint match on my example is very obvious, it is lighter on both doors, the driver side is the worst. I will say that maybe I am a little picky when I spend $150.00 for a "precision model". I do expect better quality on a model in this price range. I must say that the paint quality on some $30.00 models do not have these paint issues. I do applaude Brian for all his effort, time, and money that he puts into this hobby. He has some very good ideas, and nice models in the works. This is the second problem that the Franklin Mint has brought to Brian, that I know; The first Vicki's Lincoln windshield issue. Just a one person opinion.:((

Well said Bill...I agree 100%!!!!!

Let's not pick this thing apart like everyone did on the 61 Lincoln Brian did. These are just little cars, not real 1:1, and none of them are perfect. Mine is beautiful, but if I look at it in certain lighting...the doors do have a different look..no big deal! I for one am just glad we have someone like Brian who listens to our wants and tries to give them to us. So if you are reading this Brian...thank you sir for taking the chances you take, and for putting up will all the negativity. Please continue to give us new and exciting products...Regards, Jack Chitty
