"Holy Shark Fin, Batman!" This wartime (1943) Batmobile burst on the scene with its huge dorsal fin and was the first 'bat-styled' car for the caped crusader.
It was a mainstay throughout the '40s. Throughout those issues, it was never drawn exactly the same way, but still had the bat head nose and batwing dorsal fin. Danbury Mint faithfully modeled the image of its 1943 debut (published in early '44). They had some fun envisioning its interior and engine bay giving it a triple carbed flathead V8. Unlike the comic image, Batman is driving with Robin riding shotgun. During periods of gale force winds, this Batmobile would be banned from crossing the George Washington Bridge.
That's a cool looking model Rich. I think it's the first actual detailed pics I've seen of one. 💯😎
HOLY BLOWOVER BATMAN! That's one mother of a fin.....stay away from the parkades!
