The flagship Cadillac, the Eldorado, for 1959, was an audacious, ostentatious and over the top design meeting the criteria of super long, over chromed, with those ridiculous double bullet tail fins that were almost as high as the roof line.
How refreshing it was to see this 8th gen 1968 Eldorado (1967-1970). This gen personal luxury hardtop is so subdued, refined and elegant... like Cadillacs should be. Built on the E-body chassis shared with the Riviera and Olds Toronado, it shared the front wheel drive transaxle with the Toronado. Styling Chief Bill Mitchell gave the body a bit more crispness and angularity than the other two also to enhance a more elegant look. With its 375 HP 429 V8, it could reach 0-60 in about 8 seconds and the car was praised for its handling. I loved all 3 of GM's personal luxury cars and always hoped for a '66 Toronado as well as that gen Riviera, in 1/24. Thanks to Automodello, at least I have this beautiful Eldorado.
I agree; GM did a fantastic job with this design.
She is a beauty Rich, the only Eldo bodystyle I ever liked. It was all downhill after that.
I agree with you 100%. The 1967-1970 Eldorados were the best looking, with 1968 being the pinnacle of these years.
That’s a beautiful model Rich. I really like that there’s no vinyl top as I prefer this look. I also like that the park / turn signal lights were moved to the fenders. The ‘67-68 Eldos are about the only Cadillacs I like other than some early to mid ‘60’s. Very nice pics!

Rich, I too was glad to get the 68 Eldorado from Automodello.
I have the maroon/burgundy version. Agree 100% with all above. Watch that the chrome trim does not lift off.
