In the production Mustang colors of Rangoon Red and Wimbledon White, these 2 1963 Mustang ll were Ford's teasers to the anticipated release of the not-yet-seen Mustang. Rather than cheaply rebodying a Ford Falcon, this was a longer lower and more sleek design. They were not only fully functional, but were powered by the K-Code Hi-Po 289 that wouldn't be available until the '66 model. The K-Code variant was an expensive engine and after '66 was phased out with the addition of the cheaper 352 and 390Â which offered similar power although with increase weight. The Mustang ll, although mostly shown as an open roadster, did have a removable fiberglass hard top. As a 2+2, the interior was styled in aircraft styled accents. The interior was the only aspect not ready for production as it was a fiberglass shell supported by hunks of 2X4s set in globs of putty. Perhaps it would have been necessary to add front and rear bumperettes, these were beautifully styled performance cars.

I have both white Automodello Mustang concepts, nice models. Interesting subject choice too. Thanks Rich
They are both excellent models. I am fortunate enough to have them both.

Didn't a model company named IMC produce 1/24 or 1/25 scale models ? I know I had one but not sure who made it. Â
SteveÂ
You are correct. There was a company named IMC. I made a 1/25 scale Mustang II concept car from them in 1960’s. I did customize the model.

I have the white Automodello model. I was surprised at the lack of weight of the model.
