What's proper amount of time to wait for something you won and Paypaled the next day?
Need more information!
For instance where is the item coming from and going to? I believe a seller should ship within 48 hours of receiving payment (weekends and holidays excluded). From that point on, it's out of their hands.
I just opened two PayPal claims after waiting about two weeks...
...neither responded to my eBay messages asking if the items had been shipped. Once one seller received the PayPal claim, he contacted me immediately and today I have a tracking number for the item. The other claim is in the hands of PayPal. Not much money, but I would have really liked to get the item.

Question, John, did the seller offer an apology or explanation as to why the item hadn't been sent(asking only in general terms, not specific)? Just curious as that seems to be really long time.
I guess it depends on the seller's policies.
Some sellers ship out within 24-48 hours. Others might take a bit longer. Especially if they're away on business or make trips to the UPS drop-off point/post office once or twice a week. I guess I'd have to say within 2-3 days would be reasonable.
I suggest you review the listing shipment policy....
... When I had my eBay businesses, I always shipped within 24 hours of receipt of payment. However, sellers vary but usually include expected shipping time on the listing. However, I think the acceptable time limit is 1 week. Beyond that is not good business.
Depends on When the Sale Was..............
to your point Marlowe I would agree except if the sale occured on the weekend. Then the shipping would not occur until Monday. If your on vacation or whatever you should be communicative in explaining such. Also depending on what part of the country you are shipping of course it takes longer to get there. UPS at the worst in most cases is 5 days shipping time. Marco
Yes. The item was a model kit. The eBay description said...
..."motorized" (as some older Japanese auto kits are). About a full week after
the sale he messages me telling that it isn't motorized and asked if I still
wanted it. I immediately said "yes". I head nothing for another week and then
I opened the PayPal dispute. He accuses me of not responding to him. I give
him the date of my positive response. He then apologizes, ships the item and
sends me the USPS tracking number.
I also use eBay & PayPal for business. I find that unresponsive buyers
suddenly wake up if sent a warning through eBay or PayPal. I thought that I'd
give it a try on an item purchased personally.
Regarding the other item I bought on eBay, the seller has not responded to
my messages or the PayPal dispute.
John
You're absolutely right!
The sale was on here, I won Jan. 5th., paid the 6th., contacted the seller no response to email, called told me to give it a couple more days, emailed yesterday no response yet. I would like to think the seller would be more helpful. I never had to wait this long, I'm patient and understand things happen in the mail etc., but my post office told me to have him check with his. Regardless I didn't want to air this on a diecast forum, I guess I'll just give it more time. I could open a Paypal dispute or claim, I have 45 days from the payment date.
Thanks, John, the only reason I asked was that it is hard for me to imagine someone sitting on an item after selling it, at least for that length of time. He was the one that advertised the sale on his own free will, not the buyer. I'm sure it happens though.
In that case, contact Jay and see if he can't help.
Taken care of, I just decide to put it to rest, life goes on, I'm betting on the postal service lost it. I let a death in the family and my mom's Altzhiemers worsening get to me. I try to keep things private, but forget to not let it get to me to the point I get testy over it. I see guys here with medical issues and selling their collections. I've done that in the past with a couple of my cars, and would sell everything if it meant improving the quality of life for any of my family. I may not say it, but I do offer up prayers for you guys, God listens. Thanks.
Ebay requires tracking by seller...
Kevin, Ebay requires all sellers to have some way of tracking the package. It is the seller's responsibility to be able to show that it was at least sent.
Today I got the car, it appears the post office must have lost it and it was sent Parcel Post.
As I mentioned in a previous post, I let personal issues upset me(death of my sister inlaw, my mom's Altzhiemers getting worse, a major illness), and the way some Ebay people treated me over time for something not getting there in 3 days when they bought it on a Saturday night, go figure. I had a couple sellers file non-payment against me when I had proof from Paypal it was paid the same day I won it, and one guy already sent it and I gave him feedback, again go figure. I got stuff sent broken, I got ripped off twice, and nothing was done by Ebay. None of this justifies me being impatient. I promised in the past to keep the politics off this forum, I did that. Now I promise to stick to diecast only and leave my personal life off of here. Anyone I offended, again I'm truely sorry.
