Ordered from an ad in the Sunday "Parade" supplement in my newspaper, I was really excited to get this 1/24 Mercedes Benz 500K roadster. Before this, I was collecting Bburagos and the odd ERTL and I was happy with the image, but it really wasn't much an improvement over Bburagos with its 2-D applique dash and, like Bburago, the interior of the engine compartment received only red overspray. The paint was decent with no orange peel but the upholstery just had a rubbery waxy look. I kept buying newer releases and watched their products evolve over the years finally achieving their promised "precision diecast" status.
I know I used some paints and rubs on the model and I probably blackwashed the grill. If you have a mint condition model, you can probably see the difference. It's been so long that I don't remember what I did.
Rich: Great shots. Since I do not typically collect European models (just have a handful), I appreciate you sharing and I am sure whatever you did made it more special.
Yep, that was one of my first ones too !

Memories! This was the one that started it all for me too. Pretty sure it was 1987. Received the brochure in the mail. Prior to this model my collecting experience was limited to building the kits 20+ years earlier. You've "aged" the interior really well Rich.
