Well, this may be a touchy subject, but.... [PIC]
First, if you're into doing a lot of detailing, the diecast Bburago kit will produces a pretty accurate model.
(I actually sent you a picture of it but from log range)
But if you really love this beast, I recommend going up a scale to the CMC model. There are other 1/18s, but this is the best in fidelity, parts count and mixed media build quality.

Going 1/18 would be like cheating on my wife!
You're right David, that's the one I posted. To bad its sold.
Hi Phil ....
As I was reading your post - I remembered how I was at the exact same crossroads
... I never wanting to stray from 1/24
It's like swimming in the swimming pool from the shallow end to where the rope goes across about 1/2 way
Once I started buying the CMC offerings you mentioned ....
Dude it was like me wading into the deep end
Once my head (credit cards) went under ... I never looked back
I'm VERY happy I took the plunge
Trust me bro
Once you hold your very first CMC
It'll be like looking at your new bride for the very first time
I traveled down the path of "OTHERS' ...
When I opened the box and set the offering on the table ... there was no " UUUU ... Awwww " moment
But CMC just has .... that pixie dust of ... WOW!
Do you remember the MATRIX ... the Lady in the red dress ?
It's that kind of ... WOW!
I sucked it up ... I took a hard look at a few of my diecast holdings / I sold off a few ...
I stopped drinking Cokes
I skipped a few lunchs
Sold off a few Silver Eagles
While I was saving the $$$$ ... I shopped and shopped and shopped
The time came ... " I made it HAPP'N CAPT'N" moment
And boy howdy .... I never looked back
You will be VERY happy you did.
You have selected some very nice selections
Remember ... you do NOT have to buy them all at one time
Pace yourself
So now ...
We've arrived at the most important time
You and only you ... can answer these 2 questions
What are you willing to do to make it happen?
How bad do you want it ?
There are no excuses
$800
Have at least seven 1:18 CMC, I have never paid more than $350 for 1:18 CMC
Watch for discounts around New Year, some models will be offered for $250.
While CMC are very nice models with some exceptions, they are common! Made in thousands. They have limited editions that have appreciated over time, but these are for the 1:18 CMC dedicated collectors, not for me.
On the other hand have all 1:24 CMC except 3 models: Black prince with red seat, and 2 Porsche's ... and have paid big bucks for the 3 very rare 1:24 CMC's I own.
Agree, the Blue 1:18 CMC is the most accurate Atlantic.
There was ton of discussions regarding this model several years ago. I own a black one but it has few extra errors compared to the blue one.
I have one of those. It is amazing.
Mikhail Bashmashnikov of B&G models made a very limited number of these. He's a master craftsman and insists on extreme detail. His 1/43 models are jewels.

Dennis I actually own the blue CMC Ferrari California spyder and the Gull Wing Mercedes (standard )
Not the race version. BOTH are true gems and miniature master pieces!!
