Why I collect.

Interesting subject, seems to be coming up a lot lately in answer to almost every post!

I love our little cars, buy what I like and have too many. I started collecting about 25 years ago and have had as many as 400 in the three major sizes at one time. 300+ of them usually sat in a closet or wherever I could stuff them. Ended up giving most of the 1/18 to my grandchildren, most are still MIB! Sold almost all of the 1/43 here and Ebay.

So I have about 80 1/24, don't have that much room to display all of them. Every time I get a new one, something has to go, usually to auction where it will get what its worth. Made some bucks on some, lost some bucks on some, supply and demand (sound familiar?).

As many have said earlier, I collect what I like. When the mints come up with a new subject - SquareBirds or 'Stangs or Pontiacs - I have a problem, what is going away? Something I really wanted at the time of purchase but I like the new release better.

So......someone has the opportunity to obtain a car at a possibly better price than new, whatever the final price, it's perfectly OK with me. I've bought from the auction and traded also, no problem.

I guess the bottom line would be that we're all in this together, we do help each other, best darn group around. You guy and gals make this hobby great, thanks to you all!

I agree Paul, niecly stated.

No one should ever have to explain why they collect, or what they collect. We all collect what makes "us" happy.

One thing we all have in common is that these little cars bring all of us together on an even playing field. We all know that for those that don't share our passion, they think we're nuts to spend the money we do on our cars.

They of course, may have a hobby/passion of their own, that we in turn think not worthy of what they spend on it.

My cars bring me joy every day. That is all that counts...to me. Smile
