Dipping back to over a century ago,  Americom does a quite accurate replica of a 1918 Cadillac Type 57 coupe in fire chief livery.  A review of my Cadillac book shows there are many possibilities for a modifier such as me to work with this inexpensive diecast/plastic model and produce different body styles.   Currently on the work bench is a conversion to a four door sedan but the future could produce a roadster,  open town car,  or a phaeton.

John, I like your plans for this fire chief Cadillac.  A while back I took an easier route and turned one into a civilian version. Taking it apart was just removing two screws, and I didn't attempt to change anything on the fenders level.  This was a project that was fun!

Certainly a less expensive option to the VDM model.

I kept my copy red, but it departed the FD for civilian use...
