What a great experience for you. Jay Leno is the ultimate car guy and he is definitely living the 1:1 dream.
@perrone1 Here's my celebrity story. Way back in the early 1980s, when I lived in Nashville and Jeff Atkinson's Traders Horn print publication was how a lot of us collectors bought and sold old model cars, I struck up a friendship with John Whitehead. He called me up one day and said he was going to be in Nashville on business the following Saturday, and could he come by. I said 'sure' and after hanging up I began to wonder what business he was in that resulted in a Saturday visit. When we did meet, he told me he was the tour manager for Cheap Trick. Needless to say, from then on, whenever he toured with a group that played in Nashville, I got a stage pass.
Anyway, once he, lead guitarist Rick Neilsen, and a third guy whose name escapes me, came to town from Rockford IL on a guitar buying trip. (Neilsen is a well-known guitar collector). They came out to my house for a visit, in a M-B sedan with plates that read "EXEMPT". Neilsen was also a bit of an old car buff, and at that time owned a first-generation T-bird. Later on John stopped touring and moved to Cheyenne. Last time I heard from him he had moved into 1:64 collecting.
