1934 Packard 1108 Twelve Stationary Coupe by Dietrich
The bodies for this series were actually produced by Dietrich in 1931 and said to have been stored in the white until needed. Several Custom Eights and Twin Sixes were produced in 1932 that were very similar. For 1934 Packard redesigned the fenders which are characterized by being extended to the front bumper. Inside it features a redesigned dashboard that accommodates the optional factory radio. This series is often called the last of the classic Packards, as it was the final year for the slimmer windshield posts and chrome front headlights. They are now among the rarest and most desirable custom coachwork classics of the era. It is said that many of the custom body and 'one of a kind' classics have survived merely because of their superlative design and beauty.
The coupe is often considered the finest extension of basic design when it comes to classic automobiles. In the case of the 1934 Packard, it is certainly epitomized by the Dietrich body Stationary coupe. Although built on the long 147-inch wheelbase, it could only accommodate two adults and their luggage. A rumble seat would add space for two more.
For 1934, Packard produced just four examples of the Two-Place Dietrich Coupe. It had a selling price of $6,808 and it rode on a 147-inch platform.
In 1934, the 1108 was the longest of three chassis offered for the 11th Series Packard Twelve, and it was used for the most luxurious models. Like all 11th Series Packards, the Model 1108 featured a smooth-running V12 engine producing a very capable 160 horsepower.

This beautiful Dietrich design, called a Two-Passenger Stationary Coupe to distinguish it from the more practical Coupe Roadster, is one of only five known to survive.

Matrix also made one in a pleasant shade of green. The 1/1 was Best in Class at Pebble Beach in 2005.
