Introduced in 1939, the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 was the result of over a decade's gradual development of their six cylinder engine. Begining in 1927 with the 6C 1500, the engine served as Alfa Romeo's main production model and would remain in Alfa Romeo's line-up until 1952. It acheived many competition successes and is today considered one of the company's finest cars.
Presented here is the breathtakingly sleak and modern Alfa Romeo 6C 2500S  chassis Nº 913007 of 1940, designed by Revelli di Beaumont, for Stabilimenti Farina. Little is known of its history today but that it was first sold in 1942 to Genovese client, suggesting it was originally a design example rather than a commission - though of course, 1940 was a changeable moment in time. Then sold again in 1947 to a client in Milano. What became of the original body and chassis thereafter is a mystery, though the original engine is said to reside in another car today.
With its sliding steel roof and retractable headlights it benefitted from a strikingly clean surface which emphasised its coherent, flowing lines.  Revelli di Beaumont also designed a Fiat 6C 1500 cabriolet and an Lancia Aprilia cabriolet with similar front end treatments for Stabilimenti Farina.
Stabilimenti Industriali Farina, established by Giovanni Carlo Farina in Turin, and opperating between 1906 and 1953  is not to be confused with the celebrated design house of Pininfarina established by his younger brother, (hence Pinin) Battista Farina in 1930. Stabilimenti Farina is known to have employed a number of Italy's most celebrated automotive designers among whom - besides the most celebrated, Battista - included Pietro Frua from 1928 to 1939, Felice Mario Boano, Giovanni Michelotti in the mid-1930s as well as Franco Martinengo and Alfredo Vignale and the less well known, present, Revelli di Beaumont.
Around 2005, one Oleg Nagorny  was building his replica of the body which may be the same as that residing in the collection of the Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology, Moscow, and built on Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 chassis Nº 913008, (there was some on-line discussion around 2010 of a second replica being attempted to accord more closely with Farina's official records).
    Below we see:

Great info, Charles. That front end reminds me of the 1942 DeSoto.

Not sure why the image is getting compressed, but it looks normal when you click on it.

@paul-rouffa Many thanks. It's not such a stretch of the imagination, is it?

HA!   I wish.....    until 4 minutes ago, I'd never seen this before.  Wow, it's a real beauty, and certainly must've influenced several other designers AND designs! 😮

@chris I have spent weeks scratching around for crumbs of info' on the inter-web 😀 . There must be some expensive tome somewhere with more details, but sadly I don't have it!

This one's not in my Alfa books - thanks for the write-up!  I had this old photo from 12 years ago online, looks like from advertisement.  That ABC is great too!

@karl Given your interest in Alfa, I was hoping you'd appreciate this post. A few more Alfas planned - but more familiar ones.

For a few more interesting shots, here are the pages of the "Si potrebaver di meglio in fatto di technie di eleganza?” (Could there be anything better in terms of technique and elegance?) editorial pages mentioned above..

How did you fix it, Chris? I've never had that happen before.

I can't wait for more Alfas or more French Curves!  Your Alfa does remind me of this one I picked up in 2024.  A 1937 6C2300 by Castagna - might be inspired by the Cord, perhaps?  😋

great research effort Charles which made for great reading, thank you. Its a beautiful vehicle, IMHO there are similarities with the 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Teardrop Coupe.

@karl Hi Karl, it is nice to see this model in a pale banana yellow. I bad on a copy in pale dusty green a while ago but sadly had to fall out of the race through lack of beans ! It would be churlish not to admit that it is clearly based on the 810 Cord, as you say. But I do believe it was this design that went on to inspire the Franay Delahaye (post to come) and Clabot Traction Avants

Your model is by Carrara Models   https://www.carraramodels.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=25_28 and Carrara give the details copied below.  I also include here ALL photographs I have gathered so you may keep them in your records if you don't already have any of them.

 CARRARA-MODELS - ALFA ROMEO - 6C 2300 B PESCARA CASTAGNA CABRIOLET 1937
After the victory at the 24 Hours of Pescara in 1934, which saw as many Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 berlinettas developed by Touring in the first three places, Alfa Romeo built, in collaboration with the Milanese body shop, about sixty Gran Turismo cars based on the 6C 2300. , with a special preparation of the engine, which took the name "Pescara". The 2309cc inline 6-cylinder engine was equipped with two single-body carburettors and delivered 95 horsepower at 4500 rpm.

Paul, I believe your issue was nothing more than a compression artifact or format error  (a glitch ).  Your pic does not appear distorted on mobile devices.   I simply re-posted it.

@chris At my old age, I shall now excuse my forgetfulness as a format error - Thanks !
