I have several of the 1/43 Maxichamps/Minichamps VW 1600s in my collection and love them. I have the 2dr. sedan in dark green, light blue, beige and tan; the 1600TL fastback in red, off white and dark blue, and the wagon (my favorite) in dark green. I'm trying to find a few more station wagons but they are rarer than the other versions it seems. Here are some of them plus a couple others. These are my ebay purchase pics...easier than taking my own...at least for me. Lol
In the mid 70s when I started as a letter carrier some people on my route had a Karmann Ghia VW like the one in the third picture from the bottom, that orange color with the black top. It was baby blue and it just sat in the front yard and was in really good condition. I asked if it was for sale and they always said no. I moved on and got a different route so I never found out what happened to it but I wish I had had a chance to own it. It was just so different looking from every Karmann Ghia that I had seen before.

There were very few of those Type 3s in my area back in the day. Tons of the others of course.

I love it... I think it's a beautifully stylish VW.
Corgi made a Type 34 in the 60s and called it a "Volkswagen 1500 Karmann Ghia". I always loved it because you had to push the spare tire up to open the front hood! Then, every kid would say "where's the engine"? 😉Â
