I have noticed on ebay that there are two manufacturers of this Lincoln Continental; Automodello and HRN. Although ebay ad pictures are at times not the best, to my eye these two brands seem quite close in quality, yet the HRN is a lot cheaper and offers free shipping from China. Does anyone have any experience with these two for a comparison?
Never heard of HRN but at least in pictures their resin Mk IV looks every bit as good as the Automodello, but I've never seen either of them so maybe a Lincoln expert can tell us how they really compare. Unless there is something drastically wrong with the cheaper model on closer inspection, I'd be very happy with it!

Well that is along story, I have the two of the HRN models and one of the Automodello versions.
The story I got from another site (where my photos were flagged for copyright infringement) because I had them labeled as HRN/Automodello which is what is on the packaging (I am told that later packaging was changed). It seems that the Automodello tooling was stolen from the factory in China (or something to that effect) and the HRN versions were created from them.
They are very similar with some minor differences. I posted these photos and the differences a few months or so ago on this site when I 1st posted them.
the one from Automodello is in Medium Blue
the Light Pewter & Raven Black are from HRN
the most noticeable differences are the antenna, it is thicker on the HRN. Also the driver side windows are down on the Automodello, present on the HRN, but missing the rear window molding that is there on the passenger side.

At the recent Chicago 1/43 show, the owner of Automodello lamented the fact that his Mk III was stolen - he did not specify if the tools were or if a factory in China just reverse engineered it 100%. He stated he will not pre-announce any new models because of that anymore... For that reason, I will not buy the knock-off, even if it is cheaper...
I did not know about any of this when I purchased them. I was not aware of the theft, I just bought them because they looked well made. I had bought the Automodello version months before and had planned on getting the other two when I came across these, for the price they seemed a good deal. If I had known about this-I would have passed.

@jcarnutz - I understand completely. It's really hard to tell what is what so I think many people feel the same way you do. I did not know until 2 weeks ago.
I really enjoy all your photos - please keep 'em coming!
I got the pewter Automodello when it was released. One of the parking light covers fell off, and disappeared to join that great Valhalla of Lost Model Car Parts, never to be seen again.
