One of my favorite Brooklins is the ‘58 Buick Roadmaster produced in three colors over its several years in production. Initially it came in a beautiful Laurel Mist Metallic. Then came one in Carlsbad Black, a handsome car with its red interior. Then came one in Silver Mist with a blue interior. Brooklin captured all the excesses of the ‘58 Buicks from the yards of chrome applied to the sides with a spatula to the 160, yes, thats one hundred and sixty, little square diamonds that adorned the front grill. Yessiree, count ‘em, four rows of forty of these little jewels. After all, more of everything was better. While the Laurel Mist and. the Carlsbad Black are beautiful models they do lack the some of the chrome trim that is common on more recent Brooklins. On the Silver Mist car, however, the lack of chrome detail is not as obvious as the silver finish diminishes the contrast and makes it almost look like the chrome trim is there as this model shown here suggests.
First, the actual car for comparison:
Then here is the Brooklin model in Silver Mist:
And now count those 160 little square diamonds in that grill. A fun way to spend a weekend would be to clean and polish each and every one of these little doodads.
You just gotta love those ‘58 Buicks,

Harv, I do remember that car done by Fred Lewis. It’s a beautiful option for that beautiful Buick. I wish now I’d acquired one.
