A few more cool East German cars and trucks (PICS)
A month or more ago I showed a few pics of some Atlas Verlag (publishing) models of DDR trucks. These are usually made by IXO and some of them eventually wind up in their other series such as "Camions D'Autrefois" in France and IST in North America.
Here are a few more cars and trucks in the Atlas range that I recently received from Ebay.de purchases. You don't yet see them often on Ebay.com.
My personal favorite is the little blue Framo panel van.
Great pics, Clifford.

East Geman Cars
Thanks a lot for this look at some hardly ever seen cars. The EMW looks suspiciously like at pre WWII BMW 326 sedan. You don't suppose?
You bet, the tooling for many of the DDR cars was stolen from the German factories
Stolen? BMW's original factory resided in what was to become East Germany.

Chris, By stolen, I mean nothing was paid to the original developers of the vehicles........
Yes, the factories were now in the DDR territory, but BMW, DKW, Horch, Opel etc. had developed and owned the tooling.
In a way, it worked out well for those companies because the Allies helped to reestablish the West German companies and they went on to develop all new postwar models, while the DDR continued to flog some of the older models for decades.
My brother and I have a Dnepr sidecar motorcycle which was built in the Ukraine for about 50 years using tooling taken from the BMW factory in East Germany.
I do really like the DDR vehicles though,...we also own a Trabant as part of our 1/1 microcar collection.
Glad you are able to pick a favourite Clifford.
Though none of these fit any of my themes a combination of spare cash and impulse viewing could easily see any one of these joining the fleet.
