98 Starfire
Hi Harvey; That 54 Olds shows why it was the best looking car of the 50's it only needs to get rid of the skirts. The second best looker was your 56 Olds which could have been #1 except for the overly heavy bumpers. So why was everyone enamored over the 57 Chevy's one of the worst. Don't go wild Chevy lovers it is just my opinion.

For me the best tri-5 would be a '56 Chevy with the '55's taillights.

56 Chevy
The 56 was a beautiful car but I liked the 55 best because of the Ferrari grill.

I have always liked the '55 then '56 best. '57 would be a distant third.

1949 Olds 98 Convertible....Ken Spear
Ken, I've never seen that model before. I have the 1949 Olds 98 Holiday Hardtop, but did not know this car existed.
Maybe you mentioned this before, but I missed it. What is the story. Are there many in existence.

One Chevy dealer's rationale for why the '57 Chevys were so popular...
A few years ago on a tour of Italy I had the opportunity to talk with the owner of eight different car dealerships in Ohio. His first was Chevrolet. He said that a lot of Chevy buyers weren't that fond of the '57s and traded them in earlier than usual for newer models. That led to a large number of '57s on the used car lots, which meant that they had to sell at lower than typical prices. The cheaper prices meant that young buyers could more easily buy a newer car. Combine that with Chevy's wide range of performance parts, and it was perfect for young drivers.

I'd definitely pick 1955 first, 1956 second and 1957 last, with 1958 being much nicer than '57.
I owned both 1955 & 1956 Chevys, never had a '57.
