I picked two up as "low-hanging fruit" on a Vectis auction a few months ago. They are the Lagonda 2.6-liter Drophead Coupe and the AC 16/80 Sports.

Last month I bid on, and thought I won, a Lansdowne Bristol 400 coupe in blue. I wasn't watching when the auction ended, but the website said I was high bidder as the auction had moved along. Later it appeared I had been outbid by 5 pounds. Not sure if something nefarious occurred but, via the Lansdowne FB group I found another. It was a bit more expensive but the postage was cheaper and there was no auction fee. This is by way of our old friend Charlie B. over in the UK. Still, it was less than a new BRK.

The color makes this one special - presumably only 25 were made in Kensington Blue. These were made for Bristol cars and, one story I heard, they could not pay for them and they were returned to Brooklin, who then sold them to customers. Another story I heard was that Bristol did keep the cars, but BRK made a further 25, for a total of 50. This would have been in the Nigel era, so I don't know if anyone left at Brooklin knows the correct story, but I lean towards the earlier version. The hobbyDB site says 25, but then it says the model is from 2017 whereas the box says 2013, so I don't know how trustworthy the quantity is.

I've also added this beautiful Matrix 1948 Bristol 400 DHC Pininfarina Blue 107/408 in the last few days. Great detail. Love 40s to 60s British sports cars and sports saloons.

This is the story via Nick Richardson on FB:

The story here is Bristol Motors Ltd ordered 25 to give to customers and despite reminders never paid Brooklin Models. Those 25 were gifts so may not be back on the Market.
The Bristol Motor’s management had ordered 25 more, and as the first batchwere unpaid, Nigel Parker released them to collectors. I bought mine via Charles Barnett. Charles runs Midas Models & had acquired some from Nigel Parker. The colour was named “Kensington Blue” by John Roberts as Bristol had their showroom in Kensington. (The same blue is on a Brooklin Model too. )

There also seems to be two shades of blue, 1st batch vs. 2nd.

Vectis sold several over the years with this same box.  With different years and photo lighting, you can't tell if they are different shades.
