Thanks for this clip John; you have shown and described the differences between the two very well. IMHO the upgraded version is excellent value for money.
A great video look at GFCC's 1956 Buick Roadmaster in two levels of detail. I have the first level '56 Buick release and I am very happy with it. A very nice model in any way one gets it !
These guys (being in some way obscure) are really going in the Brooklin's market territory in the upscale models for less than half the price. This is good news for those collecting metal replicas. I have been tempted for some time to add one because it is a Buick but I passed. I hope they will come to the resin market if not already there.
I would not be surprised we see some other models from this company and even from some others. Afterall, all these Chinese manufacturers contracting for FM and DM are still in business. They have access to all the specs to produce any model in any scale.
The most interesting examples are the TSME Buicks. They are carbon copies of the FM 1/24 Buicks of mostly 30 years ago. I can attest because both scales have the same inaccuracies.
As for this 1956 Roadmaster, it seems to come right away from the DM 1/24 as a scaled down version. Their Cadillacs are also tending to this trend.
The 1/24 tie-in explains a lot regarding their prices. There seem to be no developmental costs. Perhaps that's why it seems hard to find any information about CFCC. This is a typical dilemma for those contracting with Chinese factories. There is no protection for the company that pays for the hard work of making a master or mold. One has to wonder if inexpensive 1/24 models may be available in the future.
